Frank's "Champagne" Birthday

If you want to play fast + loose with the definition of Champagne Birthday, we're totally down with that.

A champagne birthday is technically when you turn the same age as the date of your birthday.
Which means if we're being
technical the last possible time to celebrate a champagne birthday is when/if  you turn 31 on the 31st.

But we are major fans of

champagne +

birthdays +

celebrating

so you know what? if you want to define a champagne birthday differently + pull together a group of incredible vendors to create a spectacular Gatsby-Baz-Luhrman extravaganza drenched in champagne + featuring sabering lessons

that's how we define champagne birthday too.

In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars.
— F. Scott Fitzgerald

And were welcomed by a man on stilts cutting coupes from the ceiling.

As one does.

and technically champagne birthday or no,

A little party never killed nobody.

especially when as a guest you're greeted by a vintage Rolls Royce, a red carpet, a live band, a dance crew, a white room full of dessert, a wood fire pizza oven, sabering lessons down at the dock, decor in the pool, and the Collective You taking stunning black and white photos of you razzle dazzling in your 1920s wear

in that case,

a little party always amps up the lives of somebody

right?

It was a magical night,

filled with the spirit of roaring 20s

(brash + excessive (in the best way possible))

everyone enjoying their life and freedom rather than just staying at home

who wants to stay at home when there's a party to be had?

Guest experience + food was set as the centre of the party

and from that radiated all the other details

every corner was filled with something special. Even the staff wore Gatsby-attire + servers wore white-on-white-on-white, valets whisked cars away (it's a private residence, so fancy finagling with the cul-de-sac was required.)

A chocolate ganache cake delivered by a man on stilts throwing flames.

Music from the swinging 40s and 50s.

highlights from the American Jazz Age

and underneath all that brashness + roar of the 20s comes with it those beautiful musings on art + life, for

A birthday is basically a new year's party just for the birthday person

A time to think about all your hopes + dreams for the year ahead.

One of the biggest differences of course is that for a personal new year, not the communal one on January 1, the City doesn't host the fireworks.

Instead, Corinne filled out all that paperwork, informed all the neighbours + got permission for Franks' birthday fireworks. It wasn't easy, even though she made it look that way.

and, real talk, a major added bonus when the fireworks are just for you: you can specify that they be only champagne gold in colour. For your champagne birthday.

The barge, loaded with fireworks, headed out into the ocean, with a green light blinking - just like at the end of the dock in Great Gatsby. That haunting green light (many an-essay written on it), simply summarized let's say that it symbolized Gatsby's hopes and dreams for the future. And so under the stars and fireworks and surrounded by friends + family + individual flame-throwing sparklers + champagne

frank welcomed a new year

with all the hopes + dreams for the future
